The Black Cats are chasing a fourth consecutive victory in this fixture, and have won 3-0 on each of their last two trips to St James' Park. Liverpool completed a first league double over their great rivals in five years last season, Steven Gerrard scoring two penalties in their 3-0 win at Old Trafford in March. United had won eight of the previous nine home league games against the Reds. Which way will the pendulum swing in their first meeting of the 2014-15 campaign? Tottenham travelled to Swansea in the day's other game, a fixture Spurs have historically enjoyed in Premier League past. In 2013 the Hammers went into this fixture in the relegation zone, but two goals from Kevin Nolan gave them a crucial victory. Plus Midlands rivals Aston Villa and Leicester meet in the league for the first time in over ten years, and both teams are desperate to take the bragging rights.

Mark Chapman presents coverage of the day's three Premier League matches. Burnley welcome West Brom to Turf Moor in a crucial battle towards the foot of the table. When the two sides met earlier in the season, the Baggies inflicted a heavy 4-0 defeat on the newly promoted Clarets, but since then Sean Dyche's side have found their feet in the Premier League and are now a different proposition. Stoke face a tricky trip to play Newcastle. The Potters have come away with three points on just one of their five Premier League visits to St James' Park, but they have won the last two games at home against the Magpies by the same scoreline: 1-0. West Ham host Manchester United in the last fixture of the day. The Red Devils have taken 34 points from their last 12 Premier League games against the Hammers and last lost in this fixture back in 2007. Last season, Manchester United won 2-1 courtesy of a wonder goal from current skipper Wayne Rooney.

While Saints celebrated an impressive start to the campaign, Tottenham and Everton struggled to get going and are both desperate for three points at White Hart Lane in the day's other match. Saturday's busy Premier League programme - featuring eight games in total - is also reviewed and analysed.

Highlights of the day's three Premier League games, which see Tottenham host West Ham, Everton take on Leicester and Southampton play Liverpool. The latter match sees former Saints players Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren return to St Mary's for the first time since joining the Reds last year. Southampton have coped well without the trio, launching an unexpected challenge for European qualification. It has been an up-and-down campaign for Liverpool, who have struggled to replace Barcelona-bound Luis Suarez, although there have been more encouraging signs of late. Liverpool squandered a three-goal lead in the final 11 minutes last May as the match ended 3-3, leaving Brendan Rodgers' team just one point ahead of title rivals Manchester City, who went on to claim the crown by two points. The day's other game sees Hull host Tottenham. Spurs are unbeaten in their three previous visits to the KC Stadium and they have only lost once to the Tigers in the Premier League. In this fixture last season, Hull ended a run of four consecutive league defeats by earning a 1-1 draw.

In this fixture last season, the two title rivals produced a thrilling contest which was settled by Philippe Coutinho's late goal, earning Liverpool a 3-2 victory at Anfield after City had fought back from 2-0 down. That win put Brendan Rodgers' side in the driving seat in the race for the Premier League title with four games to go, although City ultimately emerged victorious. The day's other game sees Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates Stadium as the Gunners look to keep their fight for a top-four place on course. Everton have struggled this season and will be hoping to finish the campaign with a flourish.

The day's other two games saw Sunderland host Everton while Newcastle made the trip down to the Hawthorns to meet West Brom.

Mark Chapman presents highlights of the day's two Premier League games, including title contenders Chelsea's home clash with high-flying Southampton. When the teams met at St Mary's in December, Southampton took a first-half lead through Sadio Mane but Eden Hazard's brilliant equaliser earned Chelsea a point. Saints also led when they travelled to Stamford Bridge last season, but Chelsea fought back to win 3-1 and the Blues haven't lost at home to Southampton since 2002. Manchester United host Tottenham, who are aiming for a third consecutive victory at Old Trafford. Last season, goals from Emmanuel Adebayor and Christian Eriksen earned Tim Sherwood's Spurs side a 2-1 win. Elsewhere, Newcastle travel to Everton and Tony Pulis sees his new side West Brom host his former club Stoke at the Hawthorns.
