Episode 1: The Red Sky
When the Devil gets out of control, the shaman is able to lock him away in the portrait of a king, but the Devil puts a curse on the land. Years later, Hong Cheon Gi, a blind girl who loves art, meets Ha Ram, a boy who was on his way to a rain making ritual. During the ritual the Devil gets loose and possesses Ha Ram, but his eyes, which are the source of his power, gets taken away and are given to Cheon Gi.
Episode 2: 19 Years Later
19 years later, Cheon Gi has become a painter who paints imitation and sells them for money so she can buy medicine for her father. Ha Ram has become an astrologist of the palace and also goes by the name of Ilwolseong who gives people information they seek for a price. Cheon Gi tries to get revenge after getting scammed by Jung, but ends up running into Ha Ram.
Episode 3: The Demon Awakens
After helping Cheon Gi and accidentally making physical contact, the demon inside Ha Ram wakes up. But Sam Sin and the Tiger Spirit are able to lock the demon back inside Ha Ram’s body. When Cheon Gi finds Ha Ram passed out, she takes him to a safe place and looks after him.
Episode 4: Maejukheon Painting Contest
Ha Ram thanks Cheon Gi for taking care of him and finds out she’s the girl he met when he was a boy. Meanwhile, Cheon Gi’s father collapse and she’s told that he doesn’t have a lot of time. Cheon Gi decides to participate in Maejukheon Painting Contest when she hears that Prince Yangmyeong grants the winner one wish to save her father.
Episode 5: The Butterflies
Cheon Gi is able to enter the painting contest thanks to Ha Ram. When her painting is evaluated for the first round, Prince Yangmyeong figures out that she’s the one who painted the fake paintings and fails her. However, Han Geon the expert of Gohwawon gives her a free pass because he’s sure she’s a blessed painter. Ha Ram gives the topic for the second round which is about a peach orchard and Cheon Gi starts to realize who he really is.
Episode 6: The Final Round
Cheon Gi moves on to the final round of the contest. Prince Yangmyeong gives her advice about how to paint with her heart. Later on, Cheon Gi and Ha Ram go on a stroll and end up kissing which almost wakes up the Demon inside Ha Ram. Afterwards, Ha Ram decides to hide his feelings for Cheon Gi, afraid she might get hurt.
Episode 7: Reunion
After Cheon Gi wins the contest, her father throws a paint brush to Prince Joohyang while having a fit. Prince Yangmyeong and Ha Ram convince Prince Joohyang not to punish him. Later, the King orders Cheon Gi to enter Gohwawon, but Cheon Gi refuses to leave her sick dad. After hearing about how her father went mad from Prince Yangmyeong, Cheon Gi decides to go to Gohwawon to find the truth about her father’s madness.
Episode 8: The Burned King's Portrait
Cheon Gi enters Gohwawon to start working on the King’s portrait. Expert Han shows Cheon Gi around and explain what kind work she’ll be dong. When Cheon Gi sees the late King’s portrait it makes her fall down due to a mysterious energy and she drops her bandage. When she later returns with Ha Ram to retrieve the bandage, the portrait calls the demon inside Ha Ram.
Episode 9: Physiognomy Of The Immortal
The demon almost gets out, but the white tiger is able to subdue it. Cheon Gi, who’s having a hard time drawing the portrait, goes to a physiognomist with Ha Ram to learn about different face shapes and different types of facial bone structure. Ha Ram finds out about the demon inside of him when he meets Prince Joohyang as Ilwolseong and Cheon Gi also finds out why she was chosen to restore the portrait.
Episode 10: The Painter Of The King's Portrait
Cheon Gi finds out about the Demon and why she was chosen to draw King Youngjong’s portrait. She also finds out that if she paints the portrait, something bad might happen to her like her father. She gets scared and makes an excuse not to paint. Meanwhile, Ha Ram also finds out about the Demon inside him and how Cheon Gi might be in danger so he prepares a boat ticket to Yeon for Cheon Gi and her father.
Episode 11: The Ring Of Fate
Ha Ram gets arrested under the suspicion of killing the soldiers on Mount Inwang. Cheon Gi continues to draw the king’s portrait but heard that her painting does not have any divine powers. Cheon Gi begs Yangmyeong to let her see Ha Ram, but Yangmyeong doesn’t allow it so Cheon Gi and her friends forge a document and break into the prison and ends up getting arrested.
Episode 12: Fight To The Death
Cheon Gi starts repainting the portrait. King Seongjo tells Prince Yangmyeong he plans on installing him as the next Crown Prince. Prince Joohyang who hears everything visits Ha Ram in his cell and tells him to hand over the Demon. Afterwards, he confronts King Seongjo about it and King Seongjo collapses.
Episode 13: The Sealing Ceremony
Cheon Gi finishes the portrait. Prince Joohyang asks Ha Ram to find a divine object that’ll help him stay in control even when he gets possessed by the demon. Ha Ram realizes the ring he gave to Cheon Gi is the divine object and gives Prince Joohyang a fake ring. The ritual starts and the demon is released from Ha Ram’s body.
Episode 14: From the Jaws of Death
The Sealing Ceremony is unsuccessful. The portrait rips and Prince Yangmyeong barely manages to confine the Demon in Ha Ram’s body. Ha Ram and Cheon Gi run away to a safe place, but Prince Joohyang uses Cheon Gi’s father to lure her out and Cheon Gi ends up getting caught. Ha Ram and his bodyguard Moo Young tries to save Cheon Gi and her father, but her father dies after getting hit with a poison arrow. Later on, Prince Joohyang arrests everyone in Baekyu Painters Society and orders them to be executed.
Episode 15: To Observe The Planets
King Seongjo wakes up and stop Prince Joohyang from killing the members of Baekyu Painters Society. With the help of Ha Ram, Cheon Gi gives her father a proper burial. Ha Ram finds out the Demon inside of him was the one who killed his father. Once again, the preparation for the Sealing Ceremony begins and Cheon Gi makes a deal with Hwacha in order to succeed in drawing the portrait.
Episode 16: Lovers Of The Red Sky
The Demon is finally sealed in the painting once again, but Prince Joohyang hasn’t given up yet. Years later, Ha Ram and Cheon Gi gets married and lives happily with their son. On the day of their birthday, Prince Yangmyeong and the members of Baekyu Painters Society have come to congratulate them. However, Prince Yangmyeong returns to the palace to stop Prince Joohyang from taking the throne.
