Reigning champions Manchester City are the first side in action on Sunday afternoon, with Pep Guardiola’s side making the long trip to the south coast to face AFC Bournemouth. Tottenham Hotspur – the side that saw off City in last season’s Champions League quarter-final – are also in action, taking on a Newcastle United side who will be desperate to start the season well under new boss Steve Bruce. There is also a round-up of the goals from Saturday’s top-flight games.

For Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard, it would be a first home match in charge, with the midfield legend sure to get a rousing reception from the Stamford Bridge faithful. There will also be a round-up of the goals from yesterday’s top-flight games.

The Premier League puts on its Sunday best with the raucous atmosphere and riveting action of the North London derby, plus an intriguing game between ambitious Everton and Wolves. Arsenal are unbeaten at home to Tottenham in the Premier League since 2010 and came from behind to deservedly win 4-2 in the corresponding fixture last season. Both clubs broke their transfer records over the summer in an attempt to bridge the gap at the top of the table. Everton and Wolves finished as the best of the rest outside the top six last season and have also spent heavily over the summer. Wolves won 3-1 at Goodison Park in the New Year, although the headlines went to a black cat on the pitch which held up play for several minutes. They day’s other games see West Ham take on Manchester United at the London Stadium, Wolves travel to Crystal Palace and Arsenal host promoted Aston Villa. Newcastle are still finding their feet under new boss Steve Bruce but enjoyed a landmark victory at Champions League finalists Tottenham.
