Steph and Toadie prepare for the mediation session with Philippa and Stephs erratic behaviour triggers concerns for Toadie. Having missed a dose of her medication, and unknowingly suffering from heat exhaustion, Steph tries to keep herself in control. However the stress of the mediation compounded by the days heat sees Steph lose it, little by little.

Paul and Terese are trapped in the storeroom at Robinsons with no power and consequently, no air conditioning. With no one to hear their cries for help and with the only window covered with bars they are well and truly stuck together. When the oppressive heat becomes unbearable, Paul suggests they disrobe.

Susan is rushed into hospital suffering from heatstroke and severe dehydration. Worried Karl quickly guesses that shes been suffering from MS symptoms and keeping them from him. They both agree that she had a lucky escape, but it doesnt take long before Karls attentiveness and fussing begins to make Susan feel hemmed in.

Xanthe returns home to learn Sheila has been rushed to the hospital, having suffered a suspected and genuine heart attack. She races to Sheilas bedside to find a furious Kyle, who accuses her of leaving Sheila for dead and tries to eject her from the room.

The heatwave continues. Convinced shes caused Sheilas collapse, a desperate and guilty Xanthe calls on Piper for help. First aid training kicking in, Piper calms a distressed Sheila. As the girls wait on news of Sheila at the hospital, Piper makes it clear that she will stand by Xanthe.

Worried about Sheila, Kyle tries his best to prevent her from finding out that Xanthe has gone into care by getting Xanthe to come back home before Sheila wakes up. He arranges a meeting with the DHS case worker in which he and Amy try to impress her with their family attitudes.

Steph is put in a difficult position when Philippa arrives, having discovered that Charlie had made his way to Erinsborough. Shes not happy, and although she sees the growing bond between Steph and Charlie, she takes Charlie away. Steph has no idea when she is going to see her son again. Philippa, though, gently probes Charlie as to Stephs condition, then asks to see Lyn.

Steph tries to apologise to Paul after her bikie mates took sweet revenge out on him. But hes not happy and lashes out at Steph. Already fragile, she declares she shouldnt be in this business, she has a poison hand shes out. When Mark finds out from Paul about what happened, he goes to check up on Steph, under the ruse of getting her help fixing a motorbike carburettor.

After discovering she was elected Mayor, Sonya isnt sure what to make of it how is she going to juggle everything. Toadie tries to reassure, but as demands and meeting times start flooding in before shes even on the clock Sonya knows shes in for a rollercoaster ride.

Steph and Marks kiss ends awkwardly when Mark isnt sure about taking it further. Feeling rejected, Steph tells Mark to leave. Confused, Mark confides in Tyler who warns his big brother that Steph is not the sort of girl you rebound with too much baggage. When Sonya finds out what happened she encourages Steph to make peace with Mark.
