Before winning promotion last season, the Third Division side had claimed a record 20 league scalps in their non-league days. Adding to that total would kill off Liverpool's sole realistic hope of domestic silverware this season. The winners in 2001 will be looking to the likes of Michael Owen , Steven Gerrard and Harry Kewell to guard against a massive shock exit. There will also be highlights of Aston Villa v Manchester United.

Goals from Laurent Robert, Titus Bramble and Shola Ameobi were sufficient to see off the threat from the outfit who eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League last season, and Bobby Robson's team will be anxious to make progress in this competition, especially in the light of an indifferent start to their Premiership campaign.
