At sixteen, what begins as their usual summer of mischief transforms when Cadence and Gat fall in love, while adult tensions rise in her family. She doesn't know this fairy tale will end with her alone on the beach, injured and with no memory of how she got there.

Following her mysterious accident, Cadence has suffered a year of illness, amnesia, and loneliness, having had no contact with The Liars. Returning to Beechwood for answers, she finds even her closest friends won't discuss the summer she can't remember. But the island begins triggering memories of Summer 16, starting with a Father's Day celebration marred by rivalry, betrayal, and heartbreak.

Having remembered a family tragedy, Cadence presses The Liars for answers. Mirren reveals a crush gone awry, Johnny recalls an unwanted visitor, and Gat recounts their relationship's painful turn.
