Croft investigates the brutal assault of a prostitute, but reaches for a high-tech solution when the only witness to the attack cannot identify the assailant. Meanwhile, Jarvis is called when a man with a face wound causes a disturbance in a launderette. As he finally catches up with the man and escorts the man back to Sun Hill, it turns out that his victim is none other than the suspect that Croft is hunting in the assault case.

Quinnan and Page respond when a small boy falls from a window, but conflicting stories from the boy's brother and mother leaves Monroe to suspect that there is more to the case than first meets the eye. When the boy's brother is caught smashing the windows of the school caretaker, a tangled web of affairs begins to emerge, and it transpires that the boy's fall may have been an accident after all.

Loxton and Marshall pursue a young boy caught smashing up cars with a baseball bat. Meanwhile, Monroe is overseeing the demolition of a high-rise estate, which is provoking mixed reactions from the former residents. Skase attempts to probe a tom for information on a credit card fraudster, and is reluctant to use Keane as back up for the interview, until Keane manages to secure some vital information.

Slater and Loxton, whilst out on patrol, realise that wanted criminal Dougie Bell is back on the plot – but a late night raid organised by Boyden goes belly up when Slater comes face-to-face with Bell – and freezes. Meanwhile, Stamp and Hollis deal with the theft of a bag of crisps, and Cryer attempts to deal with the homeless man accused by persuading him to return home to his loving wife, who has reported him missing.

A series of unexplained robberies are cracked when one of the victims reveals she was seduced by a handsome freelance car washer, who copied her keys and arranged to meet her later, but robbed her house while she was waiting for him. Despite Insp. Monroe's objections that she is too inexperienced, DC Skase arranges for probationary WPC Debbie Keane to go undercover as a lonely housewife to catch the thief at work. The plan goes well, but at the expense of Skase's car when he uses it to block the driveway to prevent the thief's getaway.
