Tóm tắt
Bộ phim kể câu chuyện về cặp song sinh June và Jennifer Gibbons. Khi còn nhỏ, họ được mọi người đặt biệt danh là "cặp song sinh trầm lặng" bởi hai chị em luôn bên nhau không rời và từ chối nói chuyện với mọi người. Họ đã phát triển ngôn ngữ của riêng mình và trở nên trầm cảm mỗi khi bị tách ra. Dẫu vậy, càng lớn học càng bộc lộ những quan điểm và ý kiến trái ngược, dẫn đến hàng loạt hành vi bạo lực và tội phạm. Với những hành động thiếu kiểm soát cùng việc không chịu giao tiếp với mọi người, cả hai đã được chẩn đoán mắc chứng rối loạn tâm thần và yêu cầu nhập viện sau đó.

However Julie's new beau, Derek, threatens to unearth the many dark secrets within this family as he becomes increasingly suspicious of Jack.
