Vào một buổi chiều muộn năm 1966, ở một đồn điền cao su tên là Long Tân, Thiếu tá Harry Smith cùng 108 người lính trẻ của Úc và New Zealand hầu như chưa có kinh nghiệm đã phải đối đầu với một lực lượng 2500 người Việt Cộng của Bắc Việt.
