The night after earning its second Emmy Award for Best Reality Competition Show, The Voice returns to Universal Studios' Stage 12 for its ninth season premiere. Returning host Carson Daly introduces Coaches Pharrell Williams (coach of Season 8 winner Sawyer Fredericks), Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
The four superstar coaches take the stage for a medley of each other's hits.

The battle rounds continue and the coaches enlist the help of their advisers: Adam Levine teams up with John Fogerty, Blake Shelton with Brad Paisley, Gwen Stefani with Selena Gomez, and Pharrell Williams with Missy Elliot. Coaches pit 2 singers from their team against each other in a dueling duet where the loser either goes home or is saved by an opposing coach using one of their two available steals. Those that remain will proceed to the knockout rounds.

Rihanna will serve as a key adviser and be on hand to work with all of the coaches and their teams as they prepare. The coaches alone will choose the winner from their team to move on to the live shows and the artist not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach.
